An expansive county located in southeastern PA, Berks dates back to the mid-1800s, when it was created from portions of Chester, Lancaster and Philadelphia counties. It draws its name from William Penn's home county in England - Berkshire. Today, it is home to an estimated 414,812 as of 2016, and has a median household income of $54,105 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Reading PA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
